Introducing Refuse-Derived Fuel Technology

Synergy Conversion is an expert provider of refuse-derived fuel technology, an alternative method to traditional waste management that reduces overall operating costs while positively impacting the environment.

Using a completely mechanical process, refuse-derived fuel technology captures the energy in non-recyclable waste, such as mixed plastics, paper, glass, and biohazardous materials. It turns it into a renewable energy source known as refuse-derived fuel (RDF).

RDF is an inert, sterile and odourless energy replacement for fossil fuels. It is much lighter and smaller than pre-treated and unsorted waste because the treatment process can reduce the weight by 50% and the volume by 80%. It removes the need to refrigerate waste and saves precious space as it can be safely stored for over 90 days at room temperature, with no risk of odour or bacteria proliferation when vacuum-packed.

Why Use Refuse-Derived Fuel Technology

Adding RDF efforts to the waste management strategy of your medical or dental school will ensure greater recycling of the generated trash in the facility, lower waste management costs, and improve your environmental impact.

Harnessing RDF technology can be a significant cost-saver for any institution. Unlike traditional recycling methods, our RDF technology can process unsorted mixed waste in varied sizes and moisture content, removing the need to sort generated waste consistently. It also eliminates the need for large waste storage systems as our onsite RDF machines can instantly convert and reduce the size of your waste by 50% in just 30 minutes.

Other Advantages of Using RDF include the following:

  • No processing emissions
  • Waste management GHG reduction by 50%
  • No off-gassing
  • No landfill leaching
  • No bacteria or virus
  • Decreased volume of waste
  • Reduced greenhouse gas emission

Our Onsite RDF Technology Solution: The Converter®H Series

The Converter®H model series from Synergy Conversion brings refuse-derived technology to your doorstep. This series is a modular, plug-and-play installation that is easy to set up and operate in your facility. Using a completely mechanical process, the Converter®H is able to crush, sterilize, and treat all forms of mixed waste in just 30 minutes.

The Converter®H series does not need a special licence for operation as it is designed to treat waste without using hazardous chemicals, microwaves, or combustion. It is also emission-free, with no risk of releasing toxic pollutants or contaminants into the atmosphere.

The Converter®H comes in eight different size models. The smallest model, Converter®H25, has a treatment chamber volume of 25 litres and can process 4 to 6kg of waste per hour, while the largest model, Converter®H5000, has a treatment chamber volume of 5000 litres and can process 500 to 600kg of hospital waste per hour. To determine which model is best for your school, please get in touch with our team to learn more about the specifications of each Converter®H model.

Offsite Waste Management Service

Synergy Conversion also offers offsite waste treatment services to medical or dental schools that may prefer to have their waste treated off-campus.

Our team is fully trained to handle waste to protect you and our planet from toxins and pollutants. At the time of your scheduled pick-up appointment, you can expect our team to arrive at your school ready to collect sharps waste, biohazardous waste, plastics, or any other forms of waste efficiently and professionally.
